After being Imago Custom Artwork for the last decade, it feels a little strange to change names now. I have the signature engrained in my fingers. It's part of my art identity. But as I was working on this website (my very first ever!), it felt like it was time to change things up. When I started my studio, I wanted to keep a low profile, just let the art be visible and not me. I wish I could say that was because of an artistic instinct to let the art speak for itself. No, it was just plain insecurity. Since I do not have an art degree or any formal education beyond childhood art lessons, I’ve always struggled with imposter syndrome. There’s always that voice pricking me when I sit at my drafting table. Maybe I can’t really do this. Maybe my work is just bad. Maybe I’m not really an artist.
Now I’m starting a new chapter.
After ten years of painting, drawing, sketching, and brainstorming new art projects and commissions, I think it’s time to own my identity as an artist. I’d like to step out from behind my easel and tell you the stories behind my art and why I love what I do. I’m ready to show the journey instead of just a finished product. That is why I’m changing names to April Wright Creative - my name, my work.
So I'm spinning my chair around to say hi! I'm the artist at April Wright Creative and I can't wait to show you my work!
