This fine art print is from my original watercolor painting “Aia I Waimea O Kalani.” The original artwork is 9x12 inches and done on textured paper. This painting is inspired by the hula mele "Aia I Waimea O Kalani" which celebrates Hawaiian Dowager Queen Emma and her journey through the Alakai Swamp to the Kilohana Lookout on the Big Island of Hawaii. Emma's journey was symbolic for her country and a time of healing for herself after the deaths of her son and husband. The story of Emma as well as the hula was taught to me by my kumu hula, Pattye Wright, and this painting is dedicated to her.
